Service/Therapy Dogs

Service and Therapy dogs provide a necessary and amazing act of assistance to those people they are attached to. There is no formal training required presently to list your dog as a Service Dog, however they must be able to have standard obedience. The AKC provides a Canine Good Citizen test and title for basic command following. Dogs need to have a good temperament so when looking for a puppy to provide one of these services being able to see the parents and seeing what type of temperament they have can be very important. Beau is my service dog as I have diabetes. The intuitive nature that he has to determine my medical issues is incredible. This was not trained he showed this ability on his own. He then was trained to expand on this unique ability.
